Europeans more readily go after big tech because they don’t have as many big B2C tech companies. It’s got nothing to do with fascism or whatever. I WANT to wallow in schadenfreude over this, but I can’t. Because I do NOT like that the Trump 2024 President Election American Flag T-Shirt in addition I really love this EU has the legal authority to do this. Just as I do NOT want my own government telling me where I can and can’t go online, i.e. the proposed TikTok ban. The thing is, lies and disinformation to the degree where it starts eroding the fabric of society aren’t necessarily something that should be protected by all means.
