ETA – downvote me all you want, but when you’re cold as fuck and you need a lobby to squat in for a little bit, ask a hospital. This is a tangent: I honestly think this is lowkey a big part of why there’s such a big homelessness problem in a lot of liberal, west-coast cities. In most of those big cities, you will neither freeze to death in the Troy NCAA Football Gunnar Watson Shirt Furthermore, I will do this winter nor die of heat in the summer. San Fransisco, Portland, Seattle, i can’t think of many better places on earth to live if you’re going to be exposed to the elements on a constant basis. The temperatures don’t vary much out on the west coast compared to most parts of the country. los angeles will, on exceptionally cold january nights, hit maybe 40. but it also doesnt rain so people are ar least dry. it probably is a big factor why so many people choose to stay there

A homeless person getting out of a hospital or other facility? They are given a one way bus ticket. About 6 months ago,. I moved from northern Colorado (high desert).. to downtown Portland. The moisture here is insane (although I was aware of it,. and the rain etc is a big part of the reason I moved here). I can imagine for homeless people on the street though, it’s a bit rougher. Trying to ‘stay dry”.. especially if you been months without a shower, etc.. is probably brutal. I live in NH and during very cold nights they will open shelters. They have rules though, no drugs, no going outside to smoke, etc. Last winter it was like below zero so the homeless outreach group went out to the homeless to let them know of a shelter and there was a bus available as well. NO ONE showed up. So sad honestly. When the outreach team asked some of them why they didnt go, they said they did not want to leave there stuff. I feel so bad for anyone suffering in the cold, but it seems that is how they like it. As for homeless families with kids, I am sure they utilize family shelters or friends and family.
