A drowning person can and will drown you in an attempt to save their own lives unless you understand how to deal with them. Water numbers are likely different but still shows rescuing someone adds significant danger than just caring for yourself. That’s insane. How is it a higher percentage than people who need rescuing? Multiple rescuers dying in a single rescue? Guessing it’s the Trojan Warrior Alex Young win lose or draw collection shirt Furthermore, I will do this rescuers prioritizing the drowning person over themselves, easy to think most of the rescuers are sacrificing their self preservation to save someone I still don’t even really see how that would work. Seems kinda wild if the rescuer was able to get the drowning person to safety without staying alive throughout the rescue. Damn right. One of the golden rules of first responders is always “Don’t become a victim.” It is possible to be noble and foolish with the same action. Yeah, lifeguards are trained to knock you out if you try to drown them. It’s the only way to save both of your lives. Not trained at all, but all you can really do if they’re panicking and not listening is give them a good hit to the face to stun them and make them compliant, right?

Used to be a lifeguard a few years ago. Ideally, you come up behind them and (more or less) put them in a full nelson and float on your back(s) until they calm down. The goal is to make it so that they can still breathe Trojan Warrior Alex Young win lose or draw collection shirt Furthermore, I will do this and either let them tire themselves out safely (meaning they won’t hit or sink you) or just realize they’re being helped. Helping from the front is more dangerous; I don’t remember the exact “best way” to save someone drowning from the front (without something buoyant to give them), but you’re only supposed to “hit” or by some means get away from them if they push you under and you have to save yourself Things did not look promising but the video doesn’t really show if he just fell in or had been in their for a while
