Honestly, this is why the Toronto Blue Jays Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Turnpike License Plate Map Toronto Raptors shirt and I will buy this wife and I moved to South Jersey from NYC suburbs. It’s a bit more affordable, but my job can go wherever and obviously that matters when deciding to move. Yeah my work is in person, in NYC and an hour plus commute really hurts my mental health so I am trying to keep that minimal. $90k within 30 minutes of NYC is basically poverty level. I would suggest finding better jobs, or moving away. That seems untenable long term if you are also wanting to buy a house.People saying 90k is not enough in NJ have lost their marbles. It is the government fault for decade long low interest rates and bad fiscal policies that inflation and cost of living has reached this level. $90k being too low isn’t the person’s fault, but it is reality. I make $170k/yr total comp and am mostly comfortable but my mortgage on a modest $655k north jersey home is $2850/m after putting down $350k. And $1.1k/m is property taxes alone.

You’re telling me. As a recent home purchaser, even someone making six figures has a hard time affording a regular nothing fancy home. If I didn’t buy the Toronto Blue Jays Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Turnpike License Plate Map Toronto Raptors shirt and I will buy this house I did I was going to look in north west jersey where I’d be farther away from family but decent houses are more affordable. I cannot imagine owning a $655k home and I write fantasy / sci fi / cyberpunk film scripts. But I’m happy for you, my dude. Get that money. I would’ve only been able to afford max $400k but I bought a decent sized mother/daughter home and my mom lives on the first floor with my mother in law as well (when she’s in the US) and my mom provided most of the downpayment and I mortgaged the rest. Plus she gives me $518/m toward property taxes. But I’m 29 and very early in my career and living with my mom and MIL is fantastic for childcare purposes. So to your point, affordability sucks, and it’s not your fault. Thanks for the support, man. And it sounds like you have a good situation. We don’t have kids so at least we don’t have that problem.
