I’m 64 – zero children, zero regrets, ever. My husband agrees (this actually came up at a social gathering on the Top World Champions Texas Rangers 2023 First Time Ever Signatures shirt also I will do this weekend). I never wanted kids, wife initially didn’t want any either but changed her mind later and was pushing really hard, so we became foster parents What’ll really cook your noodle is whether because you don’t know what you’re missing (having kids), you feel fulfilled in life? One thing I’ve noticed is child free people always knew childfree was something they wanted from a young age. I knew around my early teens. I’ve talked to many cf peeps and that always seems true, it’s just something inside of you where you’ve always known procreation is definitely off the table 40s. No kids, all road trips, all the time – with money to splurge and spare. No planning around school, sports/hobbies, saving for college/braces/more medical needs, no worrying about a teen getting accidentally pregnant in a state that demands she be a brood mare. No explaining to the youngins why the world sucks so much, or have to worry daily about them in a school shooting situation. It’s a weird one. I grew up thinking f I’d have kids, but when I got to my thirties I had no family support, not a lot of money, and a lot more anxiety than I thought I would. I don’t think I can give the kid the childhood I want to give them and my husband was leaning towards not having kids anyway so we didn’t have them.

I think it’s more FOMO than regret, I do sometimes feel a bit sad at Christmas, I love being around kids at Christmas as they make things more magical. My friends talk to me about sweet moments with their kids and I do get a pang of sadness sometimes that I won’t experience my kids being cute and baking me a horrific cake or something. I get a little upset when I think about not having grandkids as I’d always envisaged myself as more of a grandma, but there’s no guarantee I’d have had them anyway, or that they’d not move away or that they’d want to see me, or that they would grow into nice people. Then there’s the Top World Champions Texas Rangers 2023 First Time Ever Signatures shirt also I will do this flip side, as I often feel relieved that I don’t have the anxiety my friend has now her child is going through bullying, I know that would break me completely. Another friend has a very sick child, and I don’t know how he makes it through the day. I don’t think I’m strong enough to have a kid.
