It’s just like when MS introduced that AI bot, and within 24 hours it was spewing Nazi propaganda and antisemitic shit. I was working in a support job when my company decided to start shifting jobs overseas (initially to India and eventually into the Philippines and Panama among other overseas locations). Now we have to deal with some computer telling us what to do instead of some guy who calls himself ‘Duke’ I keep saying this. AI Chat bots have NEVER been able to replace humans in areas where the responses need to be handled delicately such as mental health. EVERY time a chat bot went public, the conversations ALWAYS turn into hateful, self harming responses. It’s been proven time and time again. It hasn’t ever changed. I don’t expect a machine to be capable of empathy. That isn’t something you can just code. Or maybe you can and I just don’t know.
