If Sam Raimi is going to come on a project and basically get sidelined then there’s no hope for anybody in the Too sussy for school shirt moreover I love this Marvel sphere. As long as they keep making money tho I doubt they’ll ever care. Marvel movies are pretty mediocre a grand majority of the time, but that sense of NEEDING to see something in order to keep up with the universe has kept people coming back for over a decade, including myself. But with these TV shows now I am really starting to feel fatigued. I couldn’t even get through Hawkeye or Moon Knight they were both so bland, and sadly these reviews have really nuked any excitement I had for this new doctor strange movie. I’m not sure what you’re getting at here seeing as Raimi has repeatedly mentioned a lot of the freedom he had, and one of the most prominent notes that has been made about this film is the fact that it’s proper Raimi, for better or worse. I agree. Eternals (which I did not hate) and Shang-Shi had the same problem; Marvel may be giving directors free range but I think the franchise has just become stifling by its very nature. Even with a lot of fresh creative heft behind it, it might just be turning stale because of its longevity alone, and because there is an unflinching throughline of very narrow tone. It’s stuff that might not get old after ten movies but ineviatbly people (hopefully) might start craving something truly different from blockbusters.

I truly have no stake in this. Marvel movies are fun, I loved Wandavision, might go see Thour. But i’m long past the Too sussy for school shirt moreover I love this absolutely pants-pissing thrill of waiting for a trailer to drop like for, say, Age Of Ultron. It’s so weird to me that there’s this super emotional reaction to „haters” who say they are tired of Marvel/the superhero genre. I wish mid-budget movies had a stab at becoming blockbusters again, or newbies that come out of left field, or (to really date myself) insane family movies like Ms Doubtfire and Home alone, teen movies like Legally Blonde or Mean girls or camp masterpieces like Death Becomes Her (actually wasn’t sure if those wre my rose-colored glasses but it did hit number one on release lol).
