I am going through the Tom Petty The Heartbreakers Anything Black Shirt and by the same token and same situation at work. I’ve taken the “lead” role and requested a every three month formal review. This way I can be coached if needed as well as review what other steps I need to take to get to the next level. I needed to add I did negotiate a 22% pay raise for the lead position. Same thing, get rid of my boss, decide I can report to some other random director in some unrelated department. This means that even if you don’t take on additional responsibility formally, you have nobody to escalate to since your new supervisor doesn’t know enough about your job to help. You will have extra responsibility and stress because you’re now the end of the line. I tried pointing out that they freed up some money firing my boss and that I was only asking for a small part of what was saved. Didn’t work for me, but maybe you can use that in your negotiating. Also, dust off your resume, get references lined up and at least window shop for jobs. You don’t know which way things will go for you and it’s best to be ready for all outcomes.

Contract. You need a legally binding contract that says a timeframe, temporary wage for being in a leadership role, the Tom Petty The Heartbreakers Anything Black Shirt and by the same token and expectations of the role, the metrics they will measure the “good fit” with, what you will get if you assume the role (wage, benefits, etc), what will happen if you don’t assume the role, and, most importantly, what will happen if(read as when) they go past the temporary and you’re still doing it (penalty, assumed “good fit”, revert back, etc). Everything everyone else said, and just want to reiterate that they need to make it clear what your benchmarks and deliverables should be for them to feel comfortable, and timeline for you to achieve and maintain those things. If it’s open ended with subjective standards, it’s a no from me dawg.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
