Then that would be a war museum. There are plenty of those all over the Tom Macdonald wearing Honor Usvets shirt moreover I will buy this world. The peace memorial museum isn’t a war museum. This is where I think people get confused. Like if you go to a museum dedicated as a memorial to any historically significant tragedy there isn’t going to be a whole section justifying the victims pain, suffering and demise. Look, I’m not saying that it shouldn’t be covered, talked about or mentioned anywhere. It absolutely should. I think it’s appalling that I had to educate my Japanese boyfriend on the atrocities of unit 731 because he never learnt about them in school or as an adult because nobody talks about it. I think it’s awful that there are actual war museums in Japan (and many other countries!) that gloss over the truth to present a one-sided version of events.

But the Tom Macdonald wearing Honor Usvets shirt moreover I will buy this aim of this museum in particular is to get rid of nuclear weapons worldwide by showing the realities of what they cause (sadly, I don’t think that will ever happen, but doesn’t change that this is the goal of the museum) they can’t do that if there’s a whole section of the museum dedicated to justifying the use of nuclear bombs. Majority of the people bombed had nothing to do with soldiers war crimes nor their country’s imperialism. It’s a memorial to those who lost their life’s not a balance sheet of war-time atrocities. There is no civilian proof bomb. The whole argument of civilians is shades of gray. Is the farmer growing food that is eaten by soldiers truly uninvolved? The workers at the sheet metal production plant? War is fucked. We are privileged to have been born in a time where we dont suffer the realities of total war. There’s record of people from unit 731 doing such awful shit that even the germans were questioning it like imagine how awful you have to be to make literal genociding nazis think you’re kooky
