A portion of the proceeds will support Vision Council’s Open Your Eyes Scholarship Program, an initiative that seeks to provide more opportunities to optometry students, especially in Black and brown communities. “What excited me most about this is, that it’s not just a vanity project,” he said. “This has purpose. It’s going to help 20 students receive free college education optometry scholarships. The winners will have the opportunity to even open up their own eyewear store or their own practice,” he said. “And I’ve always loved sunglasses.” He landed on the name “Reunion,” over all of his other songs to pull inspiration from, because of his desire that one day soon, everyone will be able to reunite safely.
