Yeah that’s about how much I had when I came here, though that’s not counting the Tokio Hotel Screams 2007 Band Rock T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this hotel I stayed in my first month. It’s definitely doable if you start working within a month or two of getting here, like I did my CELTA here for the first month and then started teaching almost two months after I arrived, but it was a little tight and I wished I had more (well I did have much more, but that was money that was invested or for bad emergencies). I did the CELTA in the us and applied to a cram school in hcmc, who offered me lodging for the first week in vietnam but i had to work the contract to pay it off as well as receive the flight reimbursement as stipulated by the contract. When I worked at VUS I was making 570k per hour as my base. I specialized in teaching only IELTS there which pays 30% more per hour. I was averaging 108 hours a month. Doing the math that would be (570,000*1.3)*108=80,000,000=$3400 Like I said, a small number of ESL jobs do pay that well. Your experience is one of the outliers I was referring to that takes experience to get though. I worked at ILA and it was possible to make a similar amount hourly as you did at VUS, but it was extremely rare for someone to get that for every one of their classes and they needed to have been teaching for 4 or 5 years. Experiences like yours are useful for people to know, but it’s worth noting that they are outliers and it takes a good amount of time to get there.

But you weren’t making that much starting off, right? I’m familiar with VUS’s pay scales since I was offered a job there once and I’m guessing it took a few years to get to the Tokio Hotel Screams 2007 Band Rock T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this level that you did and it’s not like centers typically let people teach IELTS until they’ve been teaching for a year or two. It was my first teaching job right out of my TEFL course. Salary was 520k but got pumped up to 570k within 1 month of teaching. Started teaching IELTS from my second month. Damn…well honestly, you might be the luckiest teacher to start off in HCMC then lol. 80 mil per month is what teachers at mid tier international schools make, inexperienced ESL teachers at language centers and public schools usually start off around 40 mil. It was definitely a nice gig. Moved to ILA and worked in their head office developing their curriculum and programmes. Now I’m managing an international school’s primary ESL programmes. All of this with only a BS and TEFL.
