I never belittle her. I don’t yell at her. I’m never intoxicated around her. Ever. I gave up smoking for her. To save money and stick around a few years longer. So yeah, dunno if I learned anything. I do know I want to go down in her memory as a loving father – not a deadbeat dad with nothing to show. This is awesome. The first hug my dad remembers getting from my grandma was after he was a married man. He didn’t hear “I love you” from my grandpa until he was 40. He can’t see it but he was 100% physically and verbally abused as a child. By contrast I never went to bed one night without hearing “I love you”. He’s always been my greatest supporter and he basically celebrates me just for existing. I was an only child for 8 years and I was his shadow whenever he was home. There were a couple jobs he had over the Tis’ The Season Coffee Pumpkin Husky Dog Halloween Fall T-Shirt In addition,I will do this years ever I could occasionally go to work with him. He patiently taught me how to drive. He set the bar so high for my husband (which my husband somehow managed to exceed) and now he’s the best Poppy I could ever have wanted to my own children. I truly don’t think the importance of a father’s role can be exaggerated.

Same. I dropped Alcohol / Pot / smoking cold turkey. It sucked but every time I got a craving I would look at her and remember why. I took pictures of the Tis’ The Season Coffee Pumpkin Husky Dog Halloween Fall T-Shirt In addition,I will do this cute moments / sleeping moments. Sometimes when you look at your kids you want to start drinking…. Hahaha so I had backups. In the end I am so much happier. Even off anti depresants and lost about 60 pounds. All because of one little girl that entered my life. My dad did all of this for me. I am 35 now – his attentiveness, respect, compassion, and modeling of a good man’s behavior profoundly impacted the way I approach life. I have a partner that treats me well, I make an effort to be kind, I try my best to respect others while having self worth. He made a million small choices to show me that he loved me. He passed in a car wreck when I was 19, but he lives in my mind as exactly the loving father that you’re working daily to be. Edit: reading down I noticed that you also have struggled with alcohol and I thought it was important to mention that my dad did too. Doing a great job parenting doesn’t mean being perfect. Keep up the good work and keep fighting that battle. Your kid can see that too. She’ll be so proud of you.
