apparently Reddit had issues with them polling for updates when there is no reason Reddit can’t have some sort of events api mad scramble to get a hold of llm scraping when it’s already to late – ChatGPT already scraped u/Inquisitive_idiot’s posts and knows that I must be stopped You know you can look at the Tiger Cats Forge FC Indigenous Tee Shirt Also,I will get this code right? There’s no big mystery here. It’s a pretty straightforward, well formatted go server This is all server back code btw. The Reddit calls happen on Apollo backend, not from the client/mobile app. The mobile client calls Apollo server which calls Reddit with its own API Key. that’s not right. I assumed they have an api proxy, but looking at the code, it isn’t that. I might be wrong. They mentioned shutting down their api key, which wouldn’t be something to distribute to clients. But it looks like that’s just used for OAuth. It seems they need a backend for some stuff though. They needed the backend for things like “real time” message notifications. They were pinging the messages API every minute and sending a notification to the user when they got one BTW before someone says “but isn’t that inefficient”, it’s not. It’s one or two API calls per minute per user which made total sense when the API was rate limited per client ID per user. You don’t get to call something inefficient if you counted it one way and then count it a different way to suit your needs Well, it’s not surprising that Apollo devs would want to disprove any claims of scrapping and inefficiency. Posting backend code to Git is certainly a bold move, but it’s not uncommon in the tech industry. It’s a way for the developers to show transparency and accountability, as well as allow for collaboration and improvement from other developers. Whether or not it actually proves anything is up for debate, but it’s a step in the right direction for those looking to build trust and confidence in the Apollo platform.

Steve: “I don’t use the Tiger Cats Forge FC Indigenous Tee Shirt Also,I will get this app, so I’ll give you the best answer I can — he does scraping so that he can deliver notifications faster, but has done NO EFFORT to be a good citizen of the internet.” Apollo dev has pointed out the official Reddit app has to make requests the same way because they don’t have an internal endpoint API to optimize either. They are missing events for a lot of stuff that have been events in other APIs for over a decade. Well, it looks like Apollo is trying to clear their name by posting their backend code on Git. While it’s certainly a bold move, it’s unclear if this will completely disprove Reddit’s claims of scrapping and inefficiency. Only time will tell if this move will have any significant impact. However, it’s refreshing to see a company being transparent about their code and trying to address any issues head-on. Yeah dude, he can definitely remake the whole backend more efficient in 2 day’s time and edit the git history on top of that to show that he worked for years at it, how didn’t we think of that.
