Husband and I are in our 40s and always wanted to be childfree. Occasionally I get a little twinge, like “Oh, it’d be cool to share/pass on this thing.” But we’re both glad not to pass on our health problems and traumas. We just don’t have the The Who The Who Retro Aesthetic Fan Art 80s shirt and I will buy this bandwidth to properly care for another human. Hm… perspective from the other side. I’m nearly 40 and have a child who i love very dearly. My husband is a great husband and father. I have no complaints about my life and the little family that we’ve created. However, many of my girlfriends are not married and/or without kids. When I hang out with them, I can still appreciate their lifestyle and can imagine myself back in my pre married /pre kid life. Had I not met my husband and took a different route, I think I could be equally satisfied with a single life. I don’t regret anything and I love my current life. I just genuinely think that I would have enjoyed life on a different path too.

me (f36) and my bf (m39) are so happy that we don’t have kids. we keep seeing the The Who The Who Retro Aesthetic Fan Art 80s shirt and I will buy this struggles our friends with kids are having and we noticed it’s really mostly struggles and there’s no joy in the eyes of those friends when we (rarely) get to meet them. not taking into account that a kid would destroy our physical and mental health (we do struggle with these already) and drain our funds completely. we also know for a fact that a kid would destroy our relationship because we do not have energy for that. we both think that having a kid these days is controversial since it’s very uncertain what life the kid would have with the global problems we are facing atm. people when thinking whether to have kids (though sadly they rarely do) mostly think about themselves buy rarely think about the kids – will they be able to provide? make them happy? or is it just to have something to take care of you when you’re old or for your own “fulfilment”? i’ve read so many posts by these grown up kids, and i grew up with neglectful parents as well, so this topic is extremely sensitive to me. to be fair, nor me or my bf never wanted kids so that’s what made the decision super easy. lastly (since i’m keepin this short lol) – all of my friends that have kids say “you have to really really want them and be prepared and know what you’ll be getting at, otherwise – the answer is no”. it’s really hard. one of my friend said that having a kid is 20% happiness and 80% hard work. i dunno, the math is easy here. we do have a dog though and she brings so much love and happiness and fills our hearts with joy. and so much easier and cheaper. i know my thoughts may be radical for most people, but this is what works for me. i love when people are exploring options to understand themselves as well and i do respect all parents if they are taking good care of their kids.
