Enter Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, a brand-new comedy from Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, the The Vintage Girl Merchandise Shirt but in fact I love this two women behind the 2011 hit Bridesmaids. The film, which premiered digitally on February 12, is about two recent divorcées from Nebraska who head off on a trip to a Florida resort town called Vista Del Mar and soon find themselves confronting a high-stakes plot to destroy the town entirely. Sound bizarre? Good, because it is, in the best way. Barb and Star feels like the direct inheritor of the Netflix series Glow, whose extensive cast featured two female wrestlers (and best friends) who inhabited a sort of grouchy-granny-duo persona together. Even more than that, though, the film made me think of an anecdote shared by writer and actress Mindy Kaling in her 2011 memoir, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

In the The Vintage Girl Merchandise Shirt but in fact I love this book, Kaling describes how Matt & Ben, the off-Broadway play that she and best friend Brenda Withers cowrote and starred in, came to be. “Brenda and I have always done ‘bits,’ even before we knew they were called ‘bits,’” Kaling writes. “We would take on characters, acting like them on the way to the subway or getting ready to go out. For whatever reason, around this time our favorite recurring bit was when Bren played Matt Damon and I was Ben Affleck.” Voilà; (almost) just like that, a critically beloved piece of theater was born.
