Or you just don’t watch it because it doesn’t appeal to you, and you simply don’t give a damn if anyone else is watching it. Big difference. Never watched it. Never will. To further illustrate my stubbornness, I have also never seen any part of LOTR, any of the Mission Impossible series, any of the Matrix movies, or most of the MCU movies. I saw Ironman and Antman… that’s it. There was once a time you would never tell the mainstream you got into fantasy because it was very nerdy indeed. We used to enjoy it in cheap privacy, the only obstacles being waiting for and getting your hands on a new release.

It’s true. I am happy for people who love that stuff, but I have never been into it. It’s just not my thing. That’s not to say I never see “fun” movies. I saw Barbie. I did not find it life-altering. It was okay. We watched the LoTR thing explode…fantasy owes Peter Jackson a massive solid for his work…and knew the private world we indulged in was about to be busted. Now it’s massively mainstream. I find some of the TV work really good. The LoTR work was exceptional but Jackson is brilliant. I haven’t watched the ASoIaF stuff beyond the second season I think it was but I want Martin to finish the book series, that’s what I’m in it for, not the television. If you read books yourself you’ll understand why…it is difficult for TV shows to recreate what your imagination through reading builds and it can end up underwhelming. Definitely. I’m a voracious reader. I don’t read sci-fi or fantasy, either, but I love horror and there’s some overlap there. I rarely love the movie version of anything as much as I love the book. There are a few exceptions like The Shining and Misery.
