A girl was locked in a conference room by the The Sopranos 23rd Anniversary You For The Memories Signature T-Shirt But I will love this HR. She was forced to write a resignation letter telling she was resigning on the spot. HR did not let her leave till she worded the letter exactly as she wanted. She was threatening to end the employee’s career and make her life miserable if she didn’t comply. Someone sent a nasty email to the boss in a media house I worked at. They locked the entire floor, while IT investigated which computer it came from. Everyone had to sit till 10:00 pm. At another place, my manager would be upset at people leaving at 5:00 pm even though our time was 9-5. She would threaten to take away our keycard so we would not be able to leave. These things can never happen outside India. I don’t understand why we choose to tolerate this BS behaviour.Same as why many things are tolerated in India. They could be afraid of losing their jobs if they say something, or they think they won’t be able to make it change or improve.

I work in UAE and here we have a dedicated ministry of human resources. Most of the The Sopranos 23rd Anniversary You For The Memories Signature T-Shirt But I will love this government entities here are very similar to what we have in India, example RTA, MOF etc Here we have both scenarios in corporate where employees have western work culture type freedom and asian over working culture. There are laws from ministry that strictly prevent more than 48 hours of work, unless employee gets paid 1.5x the over time but the asian worth culture exists only due to employees letting themselves be exploited. Don’t take it in wrong way but I empathize that they are desperate too but the blame lies with them too. Start with some self respect, don’t be too yess boss type. Do your work, give 2x even 4x the time needed always and deliver. Don’t put yourself in hour or day deadline situation, you already may have other work. Expand your skills as well earn command and experience over what you do. This can be done by monitoring your progress over each project and time it took for you to finish (not the time it took to deliver)
