To the downvoters, do you actually think Fort Liberty is a good name? So you want to change it from Bragg to Bragg… that’s fucking brlliant, I can’t believe they left you out of the renaming process. I also think we should have a Fort Hitler, Fort Mussolini. Screw it! Let’s have a Fort King George! Let’s make forts after all our enemies! Just imagine the millions of tax dollars wasted on this changing everything down to the last office letterhead. When people complain about military spending and insane budgets yet applaud stuff like this. Just imagine how the Black soldiers and Black veterans who served their country on Fort Bragg felt when they found out that our country had the audacity to name an army base after a Confederate general who owned slaves in the South. People complain about military spending because they either don’t like the lack of accountability, or they don’t like how that money is being spent. It’s not just about the spending, it’s about how it gets spent. This is a good investment of resources, so people aren’t complaining. Other than you I guess. I also think you already know this, and are just being disingenuous, but that’s my opinion. Waste? I think is a great investment. 5Mil is peanuts to please millions of Americans fixing a wrong to be right. Quiet frankly I think 75% of the population wanting this is more than enough. That’s almost 250 million people. Screw the south and their greediness for owning slaves, to maintain their low labor cost industrial economy. It wasn’t about racism? What else then? The north telling the south how to live? No one need to have a say on owning a human being prisoner against their will, as property, when not only the rest of the world had moved on, but it was fucking wrong?

They should’ve just found some other person named Bragg that wasn’t a dickhead and declared the base was named after them. Shitty new name though, and as a NC native I’ll probably never remember that and just call it Ft. Bragg… not because I care, but because I dont. Right, but as time goes on, people forget. Generations forget. In 25 years, only crusty old farts will even remember Bragg. In 50 years, it’ll only be in the history books; where it belongs.
