Sadly, most have kids that never visit. It’s mainly friends who visit. Until they die…. Retirement and nursing homes will be *lit and full of people with and without kids. I don’t believe being alone on a cold night is anything to worry about. STD’s are high in retirement communities *so clearly not a lot of people are alone. I’m facing that now. Sorry to say: it is indeed awful. But when I look around at how fucked up my extended family’s kids are? I feel much better. Enjoying life doesn’t necessarily mean traveling and concerts and festivals and exotic vacations. Why? We don’t like children and are perfectly content and happy with our life. People have been asking us when we are going to have children since we announced our engagement 9 years ago and there are still folk like you who won’t take no and never for an answer. Take it easy, I’m not barking at you to have kids. I’m not ‘not taking no for an answer’ I could care less if you have kids or not, or if you’re engaged, married or plan to have kids at 55. That’s odd for a few reasons, one being you wouldn’t know what a child would add because you obviously don’t have one and other being that a child would obviously add SOMETHING. Almost impossible for a child to add nothing to your lives. Anyways, no need to get all defensive and make my comment something it isn’t. Sure, it would add stress, a financial burden, damage to my body, damage to my marriage, damage to my career, damage to my mental health and an additional room I would need to book when we go away on holiday. What I think is really odd is that some people can not comprehend that others are perfectly content without having kids and constantly need to question our decision.

And also, we can babysit and take care of children for days and even years, we understand how much we hate kids. The only reason it’s “different” when it’s your own is because of a fucking chemical drug in your brain forcing you to love this creature so that it will survive. Of course, a child would definitely add something. It’s just not necessarily something they want or even something good. It’s apparently so wrong to say “I don’t like children”, well, I’m sorry but I don’t like them. I didn’t have kids for this reason. I’m also bipolar. I could not give kids the time and patience they require. My husband was always ok with that….long as he was with me. Bar university and his career (in mid 40s) we do whatever we want. Our lives look like everyone else’s we just don’t have kids and have a lot more money to spend. So we treat ourselves well. I never wanted kids. I knew I’d be a shitty parent. I don’t miss them because I don’t think about them because they were never a thought in my world. I can remember panicking around 20 thinking I had to have them….it was horrible. Took a lot to push against societal pressure to have them.

I’m 41, I never wanted to be pregnant, and I did not have it in me to risk a disabled child. I do whatever I want, and it’s been nothing but wonderful ☺️ I’m not a good enough person to take care of children. I cant even take car of myself. They would have a sad life and it would devast me. RIP my childs that i’ll never have, daddy loves you. That’s hilarious. Is that why people have kids, because they have nothing to do? Our world sucks and I don’t want to bring another innocent life here, for some selfish reason. Nobody asked me to be born, but if I had a choice, I would have declined. There’s no way to ask, so it’s just forcing this particular world and life on someone else. It’s just unethical. Not to mention, I have more things to do with my life than time. For example, writing.
