It’s also incredibly easy to ruin and nigh impossible to improve, even harder if you get a derogatory mark which penalizes you for 7-10 years. Even better with cases of identity fraud where the reporting agencies make it difficult to overturn false claims and put burden of proof on the affected party and still can refuse to honor the refuted claim. One bad strike or bad decision by a young person can ruin their chances at vehicle ownership, home ownership, ability to rent an apartment or even a career (because apparently your ability to pay bills impacts your ability to be a good worker too). Let’s not forget that these reporting agencies are given broad access to personal and private information that they have repeatedly failed to protect over the past few years (Equifax has had what, 3 or 4 data breaches in the past decade if not more?) and get nothing but a slap on the wrist and stern talking to by government agencies.
