All of that goes to say – don’t judge yourself for wearing a full face of makeup around them. It’s not some kind of failing. It’s just a skill you have, which you like to take advantage of. If they’re not used to seeing you bare-faced, then maybe stick with it (because you might actually look a bit ill in comparison if you drop it entirely!) and don’t feel pressured to tone it down. You don’t have to prove anything to them. Just do you. And if ‘you’ is a full face of makeup, then don’t let them make you feel like you have to stop that How you look may be all in your head. In my 20’s I wouldn’t leave the The Melvins 40th anniversary art poster shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this house without a full face. When COVID hit, I stopped wearing it, saw that I was better without and haven’t worn it since. I used to spend $1k a year at Sephora. Now I only wear lip balm and regular moisturizer. Right before COVID I did transition from foundation to tinted moisturizer. Try that to ease you off.

100% understand. I used to feel the The Melvins 40th anniversary art poster shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this exact same way. But after a while I realized that it’s not that I look bad without wearing makeup it’s that I just became so dependent on it I wasn’t used to my bare face going out anymore. And everyone else wasn’t either. Feeling insecure after wearing makeup for years is a completely normal thing and u shouldn’t be ashamed. I got over my insecurity over my bare face by going out all the time and slowly removing a product from my face until all I needed to go out in was mascara. Think about it like this: when u don’t wear makeup for a long time and then wear a full face for the first time in a while, you feel completely different. It’s the same way when u wear makeup for a long time and then stop wearing makeup. Ur just not used to looking like that, even if you see urself every day. ur brain knows, and is familiar with u always looking like the best version of urself.
