Single, not a big earner, parents passed (no inheritance), friends all coupled up now and starting families, don’t want to share with strangers, tired of moving every few years… I support multi-generational homes, but unfortunately that also requires social reform so that people actually love and enjoy being around their families. My advocacy for multi-generational households sounds a lot like a “for thee but not for me” thing because even if I get along with everyone, my family would kill EACH OTHER crammed into one home. This isn’t even some edgy teenage angst interpretation, my extended family has a long history of abuse, scams, and overall toxicity with each other; My mother got mad at me because I (a college student paying for himself) didn’t agree to start paying for monthly life insurance on my grandmother the nanosecond she got a cancer diagnosis despite the fact that they barely even like each other.
