But as it seems to be extremely incorrect, I have no idea and I’ve asked where she’s gotten that number from. is it possible you got the number incorrect, that she actually meant 2000ft? if so, that would make sense that a commercial flight would be an issue but a sea-level medical flight would work I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It must be incredibly difficult on you, your mother, and your loved ones. I don’t really have anything to add to the good suggestions here. Cabins are pressurized to ~8000 ft. So if she has problems with that elevation it’s going to be really hard to find an unpressurized flight that flies under that altitude.

The unpressurized aircraft that I’ve flown in, which typically have a maximum operating altitude of 16,000 to 18,000 feet (but normally operate at altitudes between 8,000 and 12,000 ft) , we are required to use oxygen when we are… I’ve either flown in unpressurized aircraft or pressurized aircraft, none that let you choose. In a pressurized aircraft you can usually use 1/5 (20%) as a good rule of thumb, this fluctuates between aircraft but is a good, general number for estimating the air pressure that your body feels acting upon it. For example, if your aircraft were flying at 40,000 feet, your body would believe that it was at around 1/5th of that altitude, or 8,000 feet. Or, if your aircraft were flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet, your body would feel equivalent to being at 6,000 feet. Again, different for every aircraft, just a general rule of thumb. Also, the rate that cabin pressure changes is controlled automatically, it’s not like someone is manually turning a dial to increase or decrease the cabin air pressure so if you have health conditions where sudden changes in air pressure are painful, or worse, detrimental to your health or that of an unborn child (after 34 weeks of pregnancy), you are going to want to stay away from commercial or chartered jet service airplanes.
