Playing in the The Grinch In My Go Cowboys Era Christmas shirt Apart from…,I will love this back garden with my younger brother when I was around 8/9. We both saw a shiny silver orb fly slowly over the houses opposite. Then all of a sudden it shot off (upwards) into the sky and disappeared. We both saw it and remember it but no one else believes us. It wasn’t a plane or helicopter and this was too long ago to be a drone or anything. Weird. I saw a massive black panther stalking along the edge of a farmers field. I was 13 and in the car with my parents driving through the Midlands, somewhere between Daventry and Banbury, I think. It was ’96 because I remember Three Lions was playing on the radio. Got told I must have imagined it or it was a dog. I grew up in a village in Malaysia, purpose built for the company my dad worked for as it was in the middle of the rainforest. Our one house had the garden backing onto the rainforest and one morning I opened the back door and saw a snake sunbathing (concrete step on the sun). Most 6 year olds would scream but I calmly closed the door and phoned the snake man and reported it. My dad was at work and mum was next door I think (village had 24 hour police security and that was the only way in/ out so very secure, had a bit of a shock moving back to the UK!) so the snake man comes and if you didn’t want to keep the snake (to eat, they’re invasive species) he would take and sell it so you didn’t have to pay for his services.

Mum comes home and I explain what happened. She didn’t believe me. I get so frustrated that dad didn’t believe me that night either. I was moaning about it months/ year later to a friend and and her mum and she said that he likely denied it due to he claiming from the company something else. Likely why he didn’t leave a receipt that I find out he was meant to. Found out the “you don’t have to pay if you don’t want to keep the dead snake” wasn’t true, so he denied it when I asked him and mum didn’t believe me as no receipt was left as he was playing the system. Nearly 30 years later and I’m still bitter about it when I think about it.
