I suspect this is why a lot of people struggle with weight loss– portion sizes matter. That bowl of yoghurt alone is at least 2-3 servings. My initial reaction was, “there’s no way that left one is 1600”, but if there’s a big dollop of mayo in the sandwich and a few pumps of syrup in the cup, then that’s pretty close. Dried pasta is cheap, even good quality dried pasta. So is rice, oats, lentils, potatoes, chick peas and other pulses. There are many, many, many resources on line showing you how to use cheap basic ingredients to make healthy tasty food. For those saying time is a concern, highly recommend investing in an instantpot / pressure cooker or a crockpot. You can set it and forget it with these guys. I wish they’d admit it to themselves they have no interest in changing their eating habits. Anyone with basic cooking skills knows recipes that are tastier, healthier and a fraction of the daily cost of eating out – especially with today’s prices. I moved out at 18, eating mcdonald’s daily. Learned mediterranean inspired dishes and never looked back. I think time to prep is more of a distinguishing factor than cost. Cost-wise (what the meme mentions) is not that prohibitive. Time-wise, sure. It can take 1-2 hours to make a meal. This caaaan be shorter, and can be worth it for if you meal prep, but if you’re working two jobs there just isn’t enough time. cost prohibitive and time prohibitive are different.

as someone who cooks at home a ton, its so stupid to ignore the The Grinch I Hate People But I Love My Ottawa Senators Christmas Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this time and effort required. cooking is work, and its time consuming. as it turns out, a massive number of people are out of their homes for 12+ hours every single day, so the little time they have to themselves is preferred to be spent doing something enjoyable, or at least easy. plus, most people want something a little more flavorful than baked chicken breast, white rice, and steamed broccoli, and you dont get flavor in any meal without effort, except when that meal is pre-made. Lol this is exactly my point and all the meal preppers are coming out of the woodwork to tell me “it’s really not that hard”. I put about 2 hours a day of active/passive work into cooking; it is something I enjoy doing, and I do end up making healthy meals that taste good, but it is a ton of effort, especially when I don’t have a dishwasher. Nobody here knows what kind of life other people are living, but they are really happy to judge based on food intake, not the rest of their life surrounding their eating habits
