which is a shame, because quebecois is a gnarly and awesome dialect. The -in nasal sound and their proclivity to pronounce the The faster you move the heavier you get T-Shirt and I will buy this letter “i” like it is in English (not sure if that’s the origin, just saying that so it’s understood) in many closed syllables is AWESOME. They then have their own system of swears that is IMO something French needs And when I say Quebec, I mean French speaking Canada and Maine since that’s what a lot of people mean when they talk about the dialect. yes! I find the quebecois rather incredible in preserving their French culture despite being surrounded and pressured by English. I’m American and get really sad how the French language is near extinction in Louisiana. We’re trying to preserve it though! Do you mind (if you know) explaining a similar phenomenon in Argentina? Im not sure I quite understand the dynamics but it sounds similar to what you are saying. Lots of people in Argentina consider themselves non-Hispanic and look down on the Hispanic population, which seems absolutely absurd to me. I have been dating a girl from Argentina but Im a big dumb American and I don’t know how it works. I already made her super mad one time when I said I didn’t know Latinas get sunburned like that, man she was furious for like two days and Im not even sure how it came out so poorly. My Spanish is not good at all but Im learning and I would love to learn more about Argentinian culture without fucking up anymore

Those who do hate being associated with “latinos” tend to be particularly racist towards native/indigenous people even though they are the The faster you move the heavier you get T-Shirt and I will buy this original people from Argentina. Colonization in latin America encouraged intermixing so the whiter you were the more privileges you had and the better you were treated, it was like a racial hierarchy called “castas”. Don’t be surprised when white or whiter latinos are racist, its so normalized in Latin America since most people are mixed with white europeans. As if treating others like shiii would somehow make them better, on the contrary, It’s gross and quite honestly pathetic. They should love themselves, their roots and their fellow countrymen, including those who are not white or mestizo.
