Bruh, I HATE this show, there is a set of guidelines for how to portray suicide in media responsibly. The showrunnwrs for 13 reasons actually reached out to one of the The Dirt Label Shop Bryant B&W T Shirt In addition,I will do this groups that researched this stuff, and then proceeded to go against every single recommendation. It’s not like they didn’t have the info or know that what they were doing could harm people, they knew and chose not to care. BoJack is infinitely better than 13 Reasons. I sort of tried to like that show, but by the end of S1 I just felt like I wasted 13 hours of my life. It could’ve made a decent movie with the right director, but instead it became a Degrassi clone with an edgy revenge suicide twist. And painting counseling/therapy in a bad light too. Of course not every therapist will be right for you but the show just made them look unempathetic and useless. “13 Reasons Why” was a horrible rendition of mental health, plagued with useless teen drama. They fumbled big time. Here’s a great video that points all of this out. But I am glad that it made people talk about teen suicide. Just note that the show itself should be ignored and your talking points should come from accurate sources.

theres also a great video that compares it to bojack horseman, iirc he even pulled out a study that 13 reasons why actually raised suicide rates in the The Dirt Label Shop Bryant B&W T Shirt In addition,I will do this US Mental health is always a topic of concern every 4 days when there is a mass shooting. But when it comes to doing ANYTHING about mental health, woah now, you’re on your own. Hey, they still give out the toll free number for depression! You know: ” You’re suicidal? We care! Here’s a number, to a stranger, that MIGHT help you. Good luck. I did my part.” People always wanted to talk about it and I had to be like “yeah I’m not interested” instead of “I have mental health issues and don’t wanna see it” Fuck everyone associated with that absolute piece of shit series (except Kate Walsh). Glorifies the living shit out of suicide. It’s revenge porn. Why can’t it have two meanings so we can attack it from both ends? Like that whole hog skewered over a flame. A spitroast of sorts… That show did not make anyone give a shit about mental illness. If they cared, they wouldn’t have stopped caring after the show lost its popularity “Don’t worry guys, all the bad people who you’re blaming for your suicide will definitely learn their lesson if you kill yourself. Give it a shot.”
