We had a “math in games” class in college all about probability and statistics in games and one of them was Blackjack. He taught us what counting cards was and how to do it. Other fun things he did was teach us about probability in Texas Hold-em and how to determine the The devil saw me with my head down and said amen shirt and by the same token and strength of our hand so we know when to play or fold. It was a very fun class. The one game you can pretty much count cards accurately in is blackjack. It’s a game of statistics. You have a little less than 50/50 chance of winning and if you have I think it’s two 7s if you split it you’re chance if winning goes up to 60%. Based on what the top card the dealer has if it’s below a certain count you have a low chance of winning if it’s higher and you have less than 10 you have a much better chance at winning if you hit again.I encourage you to look up Steven Bridges on YouTube. He’s been documenting his experience counting cards professionally with a hidden camera. They can be so intimidating with “back offs” and will openly lie to you about the law and sometimes even break the law just to kick you out. It’s honestly wild. He’s now pretty recognizable due to his YouTube blowing up, so idk if the series is concluded, but he’s shown every step of the process from learning to finding a team to actually playing and getting kicked out. Very transparent with the numbers too.

There’s a fun book called “bringing down the The devil saw me with my head down and said amen shirt and by the same token and house” about a math club at an elite university that end up making millions legally beating the casinos at blackjack. The film was so whitewashed compared to the better book. The book specifically explains why the counting crew had to be be non-white to avoid casino security. And also to allow them to claim they were asked to leave because of their race. The Casino can ask you to leave, but, you could also sue them for discrimination– and if it came to that, they might want to settle out of court etc. It was because casino security were largely racist hicks unable to see non-white nor women card-counters. If they claimed to be the sons of the owner of Honda or heirs to the largest Brazilian steel plants, nobody would question this. Some of these types of people are in fact great casino customers, especially high rolling Asians.
