Sanders seems to forget who fucked with the The antidote simple plan band shirt and I will buy this filibuster rules first. It wasn’t Republicans that got rid of the filibuster in order to pack lower courts. Spoiler: they won’t, but they’ll gladly take your donations and cynically use this to get people to vote while refusing to play hardball once elected. The supreme Court is illegitimate. Obama had a nominee stolen and 5 of the 9 current members were confirmed by presidents that lost the popular vote. Get rid of it and start over with a just system. And when the Republicans win, Senator Sanders can complain about the GOP doing the exact same thing with new rhetoric of how they are ‘destroying democracy’ with no sense of irony. We can’t have such short thinking especially when the Democrats have Congress and the White House. How much more power can they have and yet still do nothing with?

Trent Lott invented “the The antidote simple plan band shirt and I will buy this nuclear option.”When the Democrats were faced with that option, they dropped the filibuster because they knew that they would leave the GOP no choice but to go nuclear if they didn’t stop filibustering. So they stopped. A few years later, Republicans were face with the same choice as were Dems. What did Republicans do? Continue to filibuster, force the Dems hand, and then blame them for it. Pack the court in the sense they used the existing processes? You can’t change the rules just because you don’t like the outcome. That’s what 8-year olds do. No that’s not true, democrats are the ones who ended the filibuster for judicial nominees during Obama’s term. Again, and democrats are the one who started the trend of blocking judicial nominees during bush 2’s second term. Every time they do something like that it blows up in their face fantastically.
