Dismantle No Child Left Behind. All it did was create tests for students to fail and a system that no longer serves students but political talking heads and publishing companies. I think it has a lot to do with influence at home. Public schools don’t reqlly hold kids back for not knowing the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this material so the lack of consequence is another factor. Unfortunately it’s just getting worse. Well, it turns out 23 years of open warfare against public schools that came to a head with a secretary of education who was against her post even existing has a detrimental impact on the education of the public. My question is: Do these kids understand how far behind they are compared to kids even a decade earlier? Are they comfortable in their ignorance, or are they just apathetic?

The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness

They do not understand how far behind they are because no one tells them. No one tells them- in the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this brutally honest detail that’s required to be persuasive- how bad their life is going to be. Someone needs to tell them about the suffering and embarrassment that await. They’re going to be serving the rich kids across town because those kids are becoming objectively more valuable to society than you. They’re going to be killing innocent brown people in the middle east or getting killed by them. They’re going to live in crime and filth, just like their parents. They don’t know how bad that is or how good it could be, and that it’s worth the effort to get there. No one educates them on this. I taught 8th grade math and science. I’d have kids who couldn’t multiply. The problem is, there was 0 chance I could teach them 8th grade curriculum. I also didn’t have the time nor resources (nor knowledge really) of teaching things that basic.
Yes! The punctuation drives me nuts! They act like I’ve killed a puppy in front of them when I ask them to add a period (on EVERY sentence???) 1,291 more repliesAs a parent, I agree with you. I want us to collectively admit these kids are super behind, and go back to whatever grade level will work for most and spend a while without testing and the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this expectation to meet grade level. The COVID kids are a real phenomenon that needs to be addressed. If you went back 30 years and taught using a 30 year old curriculum or older method… the kids would be more advanced than the kids using the modern curriculum and modern method of education. We don’t have to “go back”, but we could retrace our steps. It’s ok to realize the previous method was superior than the modern method, retrace, and correct the error.

Im going to be a new parent and now seriously thinking about homeschooling. This is not a criticism of teachers but I don’t want this to be my kid’s peer group, especially if school doesn’t add any value on the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this social skills front either. This is all very sad. Honestly, just passing kids to the next grade level is probably the worst practice in public schools. What is the point of putting a kid into 1st grade if that student cannot identify all of their letters? I’m not a teacher but I’m a high school counselor. This isn’t necessarily academic but I’ve been alarmed by students not knowing their mailing address, what their parents do for work, or how to spell their parent’s names. I’m a highschool 10th grader in the EU, Netherlands specifically. This isn’t the case here, yes our general reading level has declined. But everyone knows how to solve something like 7x -2 = 9
I have to write essays about literature, with punctuation and research. All the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this points mentioned are basic level and you will get held back if you aren’t capable. This is literally all my students. Did a research activity today and had to show them how to open a link vs reading the blurb on Google. I teach art to high schoolers and they don’t have art classes in my district until HS- these kids can’t use rulers and STRUGGLE to do work that requires any creativity, it’s so sad The exact reason why I won’t teach any standard level classes. It hurts me to see all of that plus kids that can’t speak English stuck with me who speaks nothing but English and is not ELL certified, SPED kids incorrectly placed with everyone else, and the general level of apathy. I barely get through teaching my 2 honors courses. If I didn’t teach predominately AP, I would quit. My school has a saying about the different levels of classes at schools and it goes like this: AP= those who will try, Honors= well behaved gen pop, Standard= gen pop. Basically using prison terms.
As a parent this is petrifying and lights a fire in my belly to be an integral part of my child’s learning. We will continue to read at night and practice math (she’s 5 and doing addition and subtraction) and writing short stories. I’m sorry to all of the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this teachers here. The delay of the children is largely the parent’s fault. Teachers should not be vilified but revered for having to pivot on a dime and teach multiple children at different learning levels. When it comes to research I have the opposite problem. Mine will typically type out the whole prompt I give them into the search and then act confused when the results are weird. They also can’t summarize anything. They will copy the first three paragraphs of a page and say they’re done. Won’t even read what they’ve copied either. And those are literal 9th grades. I’m just like??
I graduated in 2020 but I distinctly remember many, MANY people at my school junior and senior year that could not care any less about learning how to read properly, they read by following along with their finger and speak at an honestly pathetic pace. They just do enough to get a d or a c in the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this class and then stop paying attention past that point. My question is: how did the system even let these kids through? They obviously need more time to develop their skills. They should’ve been held back and/or summer school. Why do we keep letting these kids get to the next grade level? I teach upper elementary. Multiplication facts are supposed to be learned by the end of grade 3, but I have students who still don’t know them. I keep sending reminders home to parents to go over multiplication facts at home, and their kids still do not know them. We do go over them a little bit in class, but we are trying to keep up with grade level material. Today I was helping a student change a mixed number to an improper fraction, and she was going significantly slower than she should have because she didn’t know what six times four was.
I’d add in that they have no communication or interpersonal skills. They couldn’t hold a brief phone conversation if their life depended on it. They cannot write a simple request letter or even a coherent email. It makes all of the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this automation make sense because you can’t find someone who can answer a business phone and be able to converse with another human. I see these posts on this sub and wonder who is allowing these kids to advance to the next grade level? Are 5th grade teachers grading on a curve? What am I missing here? Well, I go into every year knowing that I will assign half of my students the last book they’re likely to read for the rest of their lives, and half of them won’t read it when it’s assigned. But what can we do. The problem is so deeply buried within a toxic system I don’t know where to start. There aren’t enough interventions to fix failing homes and communities but some intervention is going to fix failing students? O, Rose thou art sick…
Is this subreddit primarily for American teachers? As a Canadian teacher, I can’t say I’m seeing the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this same issue. I am curious about skill levels in kids in other countries. I am also wondering how kids are doing academically in cultures without access to social media, such as the Amish. I had a friend fail 7th grade and then completely got their shit together in summer school to stay with the grade and all his friends. Now they don’t fail kids so nowadays this wouldn’t happen. Among a million other reasons but this one stands out to me. We had a PD the other day where members of the local educational service programs came to our school to discuss “the improvements our students have made” and “how we can focus are curriculum on grade level standards”. I teach high school math. These standards are not applicable to our students and even suggesting to teach specifically to these standards is laughable. My highest class is borderline grade level (borderline is a gracious term). My lowest class can barely add and subtract and struggle mightily with multiplication and division. Literally discussing two to three step equations is like speaking Mandarin to my students. These administrators have to be aware of this? Are the state restrictions so far out of reach that they simply pretend to direct us to teach with “rigor” and “higher order thinking” type questions? Like, how am I supposed to incorporate higher order of thinking type assignments when most of the class can only divide if I walk them through the problem? That is the other issue. These kids have zero ability to retain information. We can practice “mastery” until we are blue in the face but unless I walk through every single problem only the few “gifted” students can solve them – the rest either give up, throw a fit, cause a scene, put their head down, etc. They also believe they should pass with flying colors if they just show up and it doesn’t matter how long they are in the room, they simply think being there is enough for an A. Like I told one of them today, “leaving for 20 minutes to use the restroom doesn’t qualify as being here”. I can’t wait to leave this profession.
My wife left teaching after 15 years because of this. The district she worked for had a rule that the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this lowest grade that could be given was a 70. She asked a district leader “Why should I give the student that didn’t do anything a 70, but then the student that tried also and gets a 70 and makes them feel like it wasn’t worth the effort?” She was essentially told that it was so the parents or children wouldn’t be upset and that the correct score could be reported as well, but it would be reflected as a 70 for reporting. The quest to make all things equal is killing our education….not to mention the district’s need to keep the funding flowing. My daughters boyfriend is a sophomore at a state university and he doesn’t know the 12 months of the year! I have already told her that I am not paying for her wedding if he is the one. Here is what people don’t understand. Until 3rd-ish grade you are learning to read. After that you are reading to learn. So once they are behind they are BEHIND.
This is sad. You should package this in a letter to the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this nation’s education department and so called education leaders along with the president, websites, YouTubers, news and media outlets, and big time influencers that would spread the message. I blame it on the capitalism invading the systems. Colleges cost too much so now families don’t care if their kids attend. I blame it on clueless leaders and too much hand holding giving to kids not enough accountability or consequences. If they can keep passing without these basic skills, so many will think it’s not an issue and parents who are mostly overworked or out of the loop will think their little sunshine is doing fine. I know a kid that made honor roll and can’t even read a short paragraph.
Read at grade level. Some come into my classroom at a 3rd/4th grade reading level. There are some students who cannot sound out words. High school physical science. In NC you take either honors chemistry, honors physics, or physical science. All ELLs IEPs and 504s get put into physical science. Tried doing a reading assignment to work on reading skills. 2 paragraphs long, maybe 10 sentences total in the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this passage, and key words that answered the questions were bolded. You would have thought I had handed them a 30 page science research paper. I taught that very lesson today in 1st grade! It’s so frustrating to know that so much of the knowledge that we are trying to teach is so quickly discarded. I don’t know what else to do to get them to understand and remember.
I was saying this back in 2006. I taught junior and senior English, regular track. I had a handful of students out of 240 who could read at a 5th grade level. The rest could not. And I was expected to teach them creation myths and Chaucer and Shakespeare. I got 1 kid out of that bunch to pass the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this standardized test that would allow them to graduate with a diploma instead of a cert of completion. They had a chance every month from 10th grade on to pass the test. 1. 1 kid passed in his senior year. I work with middle schoolers, one of them didn’t know what order the months are in (or what month we’re in right now) another one didn’t know what the word destroy meant. Also their spelling is BAD like kindergarten bad. And their writing is terrible, can’t read it, no punctuation, just all around bad. I feel sorry for these kids cuz it’s hard to advance in education when you don’t have a solid foundation. And yet we allow kids to pass and move on to the next grade levels no matter how bad their grades are.
Time for a professional development by a teacher who spent half a year in an “urban” school who really fixed all the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this problems with some personal relationships and other magic. I feel like I could’ve written this word for word. Way to many teenagers can’t even use a ruler accurately. Some can’t tell which side is inches vs centimeters. Shit is wild. I teach art, I have 5th graders who don’t know what a pattern is even though I teach patterns in different ways every year. Kids who can’t problem solve anything, they will yell out “My pencil broke” and then look at me like they have no idea what to do. All my classes have cleanup jobs and I swear the kids have never had to clean up after themselves before and are shocked when I don’t let them leave until their table is clean. Longer. They will have offspring. Then there offspring will have offspring. You think these parents suck, wait till you see the next batch.
I just looked it up, it’s kind of a long story. Apparently English is the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this only language that does this. The I is the only single letter pronoun. It derived from the Germanic ic. It’s more interesting than I made it here. We’ve been capitalizing it since about the 1300s. That is the prime reason I will be hanging up my hat soon. I simply cannot convey the material I am tasked to convey to the students in my classes, as most of them are quite unprepared in the manner you write of. I teach high school. Students can’t figure out where their names fall in an alpha breakdown. For example, last name “Brown”. Home room #1 is “Abb-Bun”. Kid doesn’t know where to go. This is especially relevant to my class today. My eighth grade students needed to take a survey that required their home address and their own cell phone numbers. At least 40 percent did not know these basic pieces of info.
I am a high school teacher-turned-community college math instructor. OP, you are preaching to the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this choir here, and have hit the nail on the head. In my math classes, I have had many students, especially post-COVID with issues like: Most of the questions pertaining to rounding are “what does hundredths mean? What does tenths mean?” along those lines. Had one student in a Quant Literacy class write a blurb on his test saying “A funny story, I graduated high school last year (from one of our “magnet/premier” high schools in the county nonetheless), and can’t round” Unable to recognize scientific notation, particularly in Statistics when using the calculator to find various probabilities from distributions
Multiplication/times tables in PreCalc, particularly when factoring Quadratics. Also fractions. I admit my teacher in grade school (5th grade) skipped fractions so I had to learn them on my own Students have missed test days and just immediately ask me “oh can I take it next week?” or the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this next class when I hand back a test, i’ve had many students say “oh, we had a test? Can I take it next week?” Generally, students aren’t realizing actions have consequences. I nailed two students for phone use on a test last term, when it’s specifically stated that phones/devices are to be put away, and they wondered why they got a zero on the test for that. And the student who tried going over me didn’t get what she wanted (our college supports the faculty). I have just seen more of this post-COVID it seems. Writing complete sentences. I see this in Stats, and for some assignments, I ask for a complete sentence and they can’t do it.
I agree with everything you said. It’s going to get worse because I teach primary and they are coming in lower and unable to focus. Many do not listen to teachers and need constant redirection. I’m so exhausted with their need for constant stimulation due to their screen time. Their need for dopamine is greater, so everything is more pronounced. Parents are very forgiving and don’t want to face reality. This is what I have observed happening. I’ve been teaching over 20 years It depresses me to even talk about how far behind my students are. I teach social studies and there is such an utter lack of knowledge for just basic things. A lot of them don’t know the The 1st Ever Boxing Grand Prix 128 Fighters 41 Nations 4 Weight Classes 5 Saudi Arabia Events 2025 shirt But I will love this difference between a city, state, or country or the cardinal directions. I just don’t understand what is going on at the lower levels where they have no basic skills or knowledge.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
