I respect your opinion. My point is that to try to stay focused for a beginner is why so many fail. A quiet mind is meditation. There are many forms of meditation but having the goal “to have a quiet mind” is counter-productive imo. Because when the mind is not quiet, then you have aversion. For beginners especially, I like the Vipassana approach. The goal is stop reacting to pleasant sensation with craving/clinging and unpleasant sensation with aversion. You do this by observing or noticing whatever is arising and just feel what that feels like in your body. You completely missed the point. Doing “nothing” means not forcing anything. Not trying to explicitly focus on your thoughts or your breath etc. Just let every thought happen on their own, while you breathe. That is a more healthier view for a beginner in my opinion.

The end goal of all of those meditation practices is the same, they just approach it in a different way. The Buddha himself reached Nirvana by applying mindfulness to Jhana practice.
