Hell, Austin, TX PD threw a fit when the city attempted to reduce their budget, the governor stepped in to prevent the city from doing such a thing, and now the PD is actively not responding to crimes so they can get even more money added to their budget. You have no idea how massively over policed you guys are. As someone looking in I really can never see how you put up with it.

And privateers at least weren’t brutalizing their own countrymen. *I mean the shipowners who held the letter of marque. The crew were just dudes trying to make a living, morally not a lot different than a factory worker of coal miner. We’ve had propaganda about violent crime for longer than I’ve been alive, and it’s getting worse despite crime rates declining. It also doesn’t help that the police is preparing to shift into full occupational army soon.
