Twitter did it, now reddit does it. At last storing all that data the users provided so eagerly is paying off big time. They are probably already harvesting all the data themselves, and they want to keep their advantage. Eh the Reddit API has the ability to pass a user token so they could just limit differently based on logged in vs not logged in to solve the AI data scraping issue. I think he’s saying that they don’t want to stop the scraping, rather, they want to reap as much money as possible from it.

I don’t know if it’s some alt accounts getting reactivated or if spez is spending his day trying to do a puppet show right now. Like, I’ve see a handful of legit people who are against the blackout, but most of the voices against are mightily sus. Is scraping a worse way of getting this information? I’m just speaking as a person that has been learning programming and has basic knowledge of scraping.
