Short answer – no. This is an effectively made-up issue because it’s very easy to solve a “problem” that didn’t exist in the Tee-Rific Mom Driving Putting Parenting Like A Pro Golf T-Shirt and by the same token and first place. The overwhelming majority of doctors won’t even prescribe hormone therapy to a minor, only puberty blockers which can be stopped/undone at any time with little to no long-term effects. Getting confirmation surgeries as a trans ADULT typically requires 1 or sometimes 2 therapists to sign off after months and months of sessions, 1-2 years of living publicly in your transitioned gender 100% of the time (ie there is absolutely no one you’re hiding this from at all) and long-term established hormonal care from a physician. It is not something that is even possible to do flippantly, and it is not something that any ethical doctor would do for a minor regardless of parental consent.

The only point I will concede is that yes, kids and teenagers are very suggestible, subject to peer pressure, and often unsure of their lifelong identities. There are a lot of things we all did/said/believed at that age we later found to be bananas incorrect. That’s why these practices of delaying irreversible interventions until adulthood were already completely established in every reputable medical field. These laws do nothing to “increase protection for kids.” All they do is bring negative attention an already-vulnerable group of literal children and, as a fun bonus, also threaten the Tee-Rific Mom Driving Putting Parenting Like A Pro Golf T-Shirt and by the same token and medical access of also-vulnerable trans adults and even cis people who just need hormone therapy because guess the fuck what, most testosterone and estrogen supplements aren’t prescribed to trans people anyway.
