The noise and bodily fluids. ETA: oh also I have chronic fatigue (forgot to mention this since I’m so tired). I have to spend way too much time in bed and I can’t take care of myself let alone someone else. Then impending sense of doom I feel every day. That life is completely pointless and will chug along just fine without me doing anything. I’m not so much a control freak that I’ll wig out if things aren’t perfect or I have to adjust my week or schedule. Life happens, unexpected shit will come up. But I like having the amount of control in my life that I enjoy, being able to focus on me, my partner, my cat, my hobbies, and enjoy time with friends whenever plans come up. A child under my care would interfere with every aspect of my life that I enjoy and find comfortable – there’s enough uncomfortable shit in the world without me having to voluntarily mess up my life. My full siblings want children, my half sister has children, some friends of mine want children. There’s enough opportunity for ‘kodak’ moments that I can dip into. I’m satisfied being a sideline influence/benefit.

The world’s too fucked up, and raising kids is a massive responsibility, the start of their life is the end of yours if you wanna do that parenting shit right, and I’m not sure I’d be a good father. Mental health- I’m pretty much in survival mode 95% of the time. Can’t imagine trying to take care of another human State of the world- the outlook is bleak…at least in the US.
