A bit like in the Susanna hoffs love of my life 2023 shirt so you should to go to store and get this days of wooden window frames, putting a bit of filler in the rotten bits of the frame and then repainting can extend the life for a number of years (but still won’t last as long as brand new frames), but if you leave it too long then the window frames reach a point where they are beyond saving and need totally replacing. “Raised irownworks” is the sign put up after the old road surface has been removed, lowering the surface of the road below, and leaving drains etc protruding above the surface. That is a hazard, hence the sign, but “raised” doesn’t refer to them physically being made higher, it refers to them being higher than the surrounding surface. I think you’ve got that slightly the wrong way round. The road gullies sit a bit lower than the road level so the water can drain to them. When they resurface they take off around 40mm of tar and the sign says ‘raised ironworks’ because the drains are 35mm higher than the road and you don’t really want cars hitting them Crew resurfaced my road last year, marked the various drains & covers along the kerb, laid tarmac over them all, then a different crew came along a few days later to make it all good.

Lol no, I work for a resurfacing company and we often have to redo areas that don’t pass inspection. As we should, because the Susanna hoffs love of my life 2023 shirt so you should to go to store and get this roads have to be safe, but we definitely don’t get paid twice. Its just a top dressing. Its a surprisingly effective way of prolonging the life of a road without doing a full resurfacing. Here in my part of Kent, more than half the drains are clogged to the gills with dirt. They only seem to clean every other drain now, if they can be bothered, so it wouldn’t matter if they also tarmacced over them. If you actively report them to the council they get to them eventually. But it is quicker than just moaning everytime the road floods. (I freely admit I only bothered reporting the ones on my road for convenience though)
