Women were much more likely to work part time, and they might take a couple of years out whilst they had young kids. Also, supporting a family of 4 on one income is still doable today if it is A.) 80k-120k depending on the Stranger dinner Shirt and I will buy this area and B.) Not in a comically expensive coastal city. Imo it’s a budgeting/spending issue for those with 2 incomes combining for $150k and they still aren’t saving/can’t buy a house in a normal area Yes it is. I have run the numbers several times for my area (MCOL). If I am making $90k+ in my area when I have children, my wife can stay home with them until they start school. This is renting, not owning a home, although I would like to own a home before we have children. We both have paid off vehicles, but I do spend a shit ton on gas as I drive 30-70 minutes one way for my commute and drive a truck (construction). We don’t go out to eat much and have minimal subscriptions. Great for you. I make half your amount. Average rent here is 20000 in rent. Bills put that closer to 30 plus. That’s for a single person and not including food, gas, or any fun.
Stranger dinner Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
I make 75k, live in a 2 bedroom in downtown Seattle, max out my roth, HSA and 401k, will have travelled to Denver, Reno, Chicago, and little rock (twice for LR to see family), spent thousands on Invisalign, even more on a fursuit, and all without getting a dime from my family or others. Just gotta decide whatcha wanna do and budget for that People working crap jobs could afford homes in the Stranger dinner Shirt and I will buy this 1950s. Heck, the spending power of your average person has been cut in half in the past 3 years and you’re going to tell me things haven’t changed since the 50s? Basically the entire lower middle class got removed from the housing market during COVID, even some well off upper middle class people can’t afford houses in big cities anymore
