Back when I was there during middle school in the Stoughton high school class of 1975 alumni shirt Furthermore, I will do this last decade, there was hardly ever any mention of LGBT issues, pride parades, disabled people’s rights, etc., because most people didn’t care. Now they are regularly mentioned in the media, by politicians, and by regular everyday people as well. More holidays. Starting around the 2010s the government started adding “compensation” holidays ( for holidays that fell on the weekend. This has allowed for more holidays than before in the calendar. A lot more foreigners outside of Seoul. When I was growing up in Ulsan, I had never seen a single foreigner except for on TV. There were probably foreign laborers in the eastern part of the city, but I never saw them myself. 20 or so years later, during my visit, I saw a bunch of people from Southeast Asia who I presume were migrant workers pretty much in every neighborhood, and a lot of white and black people as well. Yeah they do ask you if you want to tip when you go pick up an order now, too. I’ve seen some people theorize that it’s a way to make up profits that were lost during Covid. We even have some places that were outright adding a “catch-up fee” onto bills at restaurants. Overall, it’s just a mess.
