I just don’t think it’s within anyone’s right to take anothers life. A society that murders it’s criminals is no better than the Stitch hug Edeka shirt Also,I will get this criminals imo. That’s a nice sentiment, but it doesn’t match the moral complexity of real life. Is it ok to kill someone to save a hostage? Is it ok to kill a mass shooter to prevent them from killing others? Absolutely! The issue with capital punishment is that this is after the crime. There is no longer some theoretical threat to neutralize, and there’s always a chance you have the wrong person. In this case I agree it’s immoral to kill someone regardless of how much they might appear to deserve it. You would need to make a moral argument for why they should be dead without invoking vengeance, and you simply can’t. Life in prison is punishment enough. It’s worth being specific about these moral assertions. Pacifism is not always morally defensible, and in reality most people who call themselves pacifist simply do not acknowledge these boundaries. However, the role of a government naturally includes dealing with extreme situations. A government without well thought out and specific directives on the limits of violence will commit atrocities.

Yeah and I agree. I find my argument more effective though, and it skips the Stitch hug Edeka shirt Also,I will get this debate over whether it’s moral to kill someone, and moves right to “okay so what happens if we do, and kill the wrong person?” I find that’s a stronger point than any moral argument over whether eye for an eye is justified (I don’t think it is) I would be lying if I said that I believe nobody deserves it. Similar to yourself though, I’m opposed to a state intentionally and unnecessarily killing someone in it’s custody. I also think above and beyond, as a matter of control of our governmental powers, they should never be allowed to decide life or death. That shouldn’t be a power the government has. Yea but there are people who will take your life and never bat an eye or feel one bit of remorse for you or family. Some people just want to watch the world burn. That is a problem that should be addressed BEFORE the sentencing of the innocent person. It should not be an afterthought. Pretty obvious why we should get the easier solution of banning the death penalty out of the way before tackling a systematic problem of false convictions. The imprisoned innocent person has a chance at freedom if they are exonerated. A dead man cannot be un-killed. There is a massive difference here.
