I was in a meeting in a windowless interior room at the time I worked for Lockheed Martin Space Systems company, but outside it was really nice and it comes up throughout the day. They were getting all the things into one meeting to simultaneously avoid “this could’ve been an email” meetings and sending emails all while still planning to get us back to work in time to get more done on our deadlined projects. This was back pre-08. Bob – older, fat jolly guy with gray hair who swears butter fried bacon and shrimp is good for you – is sitting and listening like the rest of us to some new lunch rules. Cool. W/e. Neil says “so strongly aromatic foods should be taken out of the cubicle work areas to well-aerated eating facilities for the olfactory consideration of your coworkers.” Be polite with some specificity. Gods know I like garlic on my… everything. Just then Bob turns to this young, approachable, very pretty, American woman engineer of Indian descent (no accent or anything, not sure why it matters but w/e) I’ll call Jag and says “yea, so you’ll have to take your curry somewhere else, Jag!” He throws back his head, guffaws and slaps his tumescent sausage of a leg. There is a moment of time where everyone – 20 ish professionals from engineers to drafters and managers etc – is silent, some choke out a chuckle and eek out a wireframe of an ephemeral smirk. Jag is turning purple with embarrasment, maybe some resentment for being the target of a deeply racially insensitive ribbing. Bob stops long enough for me, a 22-year-old CAD drafter that started 5 ish months ago, to clear his throat and say calmly but firmly:

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
