When I resigned from a previous job, a coworker I didn’t like offered to organize a team outing at Dave & Busters. I knew her motivation was her consistent neediness at wanting to socialize with the Stay off the weed Stephen A Smith on Dwight Howard’s comments about being better than Nikola Jokic shirt also I will do this team after work (and if possible going to people’s houses). I was leaving that job to get awayyyy from those people and spending time would’ve been taxing. But if you can hang for a free lunch with people who provided some support, that could be worth it. Maybe mention you’d prefer a smaller gathering. I just left a job recently and turned down any kind of farewell party. It was such a toxic environment. Absentee management allowed a bully to flourish without any consequences. Every day there was some drama. I just decided that since I was leaving to decrease the drama, it didn’t make sense to give them a stage to foment more. And there would have been a nasty comment or a pointed rejection or some bs. It doesn’t mean you’re anti-social or hateful, or whatever else redditors are throwing at you. It just means you’re fed up. No brainer, accept. Let the petty jerks identify themselves. Even if it’s just you and your boss, you can use the lunch to bond + if you want to play that game, you can throw the toxic liar under the bus. Use it like an extended exit interview. But never decline something that’s offered graciously

If you like the Stay off the weed Stephen A Smith on Dwight Howard’s comments about being better than Nikola Jokic shirt also I will do this people, go ahead and have a farewell lunch. If you are leaving because you hate the people, hell no. However, almost everyone makes some friends that are worth keeping. I would highly recommend that you Arrange your own farewell lunch and invite the people you like, and/or want to keep in your network I left a job after 8 years…first 3 years were great, things started to slide and eventually boss was toxic and work was making me literally ill. Boss offered to take entire dept out for a farewell lunch. When the day came boss and one co-worker came, 4 others declined as they hated the boss. We ate lunch in pretty much silence and when we’re done eating boss looks at me and says I know you don’t really want to be here so you may as well go. In retrospect I really wish I had of declined. It would have been so much less uncomfortable. Follow your gut to make your decision, I wish I had.
