I feel you on the Start Making Sense July 27 2023 San Diago CA Poster Shirt in other words I will buy this post Covid prices, everything has skyrocketed! Also all the dates booked so far in advance from everyone who put it off during Covid Tent at home, food cost for events at home, catering for the temple (400ish people), reception party for 400 (hall cost, catering, DJ, booze [think booze bill came to around 2k for Jameson, Vodka and Rum]), my outfits were 2.5k total, cost of decor and stuff needed from India, pre-wedding party for about 250 people (booze, dj, Hall, catering) Edit: just for a break down of a typical wedding week to explain a little better (note this is for Punjabis/Sikhs, Hindu ceremonies and traditions alter slightly): Sunday – prayer at home (tend to pay for this service) Monday – Karahi / saahe di chitti (making fried snacks at home that get handed out in the week and the girls family send a representative over to invite the boys family to the wedding) Thursday – Maiyan (covering the to-be-wed in turmeric to help cleanse the skin) Nanki-shak (Mums family bring gifts/clothes/outfits for the wedding and family) Mehndi is applied to the girl, but both sides female members get this done Sangeet – night of singing and dancing Friday – Jago (pre-wedding party, both mum and dad’s side come together for a party) Choora (exclusively girls side where the uncles of the family put bangles on the girl to signify her getting married) Saturday/Sunday – Wedding day in temple, Reception party. These can be done on same/different days but we’ve opted to do a day apart so we have a night’s rest in-between Monday – Phera – girl goes back to her parents house for a day for some tradition (which I’m not fully versed with yet) then comes home

Things moved quick so we planned the Start Making Sense July 27 2023 San Diago CA Poster Shirt in other words I will buy this wedding in about 6 months. Thought I’d have longer but it is what it is Yeah, I’m gonna take out a little loan unfortunately but if I had an extra year it would’ve been great. Cultural pressures though, what can ya do? Thanks! Looking forward to it, 3 months to go! I was reading this subreddit and I’m Indian too. I was looking for someone who saw prices of this range because this was realistic for us. And 400 is considered a small Guestlist for us generally. For sure, when we did our first list it came to 650 so I had to convince both my parents and in laws it can’t be justified for the prices that halls and caterers currently are
