I got a tour from a Star Wars Movie Picture Friends shirt who worked for ILM when I visited San Francisco for business, probably around 2008 or so. The inside was cool, but not anything to write home about. The hallways all had museum-quality displays of various props, costumes, and matte paintings from films they’d done over the years. It still had sand practically everywhere. I use to go to the Exploratorium when it was there, now it’s on pier 15. I also went there once in the late 80’s to watch a taping of “Wheel of Fortune”. Vannah White looked like a skeleton in real life, and Pat Sajak was so short I couldn’t believe how much weight the camera adds.

I was there on a business trip last year. I got a tour as well, and I’d say that Star Wars Movie Picture Friends shirt was definitely something to write home about. They had props from every movie they’ve done. Ghostbusters, Pirates of the Carribean, Star Wars (of course), Galaxy Quest, etc. It was very very cool. I worked for Lucas- you’re absolutely allowed to take pictures of the displays as a badged in visitor. I’m fortunate enough to have a friend who gets us invitations for screenings and other Lucasfilm events.

Also, I think an episode of Star Trek TNG was shot there. I watched that movie in high school hoping Star Wars Movie Picture Friends shirt would be really bad so my friends and I could rag on it drunk, but it was good enough that most of the time we were laughing at it earnestly. Not great, it at least tried and if you saw it when it came out was probably pretty innovative. I’m enjoying the film, – new rubbish dialogue reaches me every other day on wages of pink paper – and none of it makes my character clear or even bearable
