As a parent of a 19 year old who doesn’t contribute to the Stanford Cardinal Horror Movies Characters Bus Halloween 2023 T Shirt Apart from…,I will love this house like they should… We have not kicked them out yet, but they need to step up their game. It’s actually rare, that’s just what people see on TV. I already told mine I expect them there until they’re 30. It’s their choice if they choose to move out earlier. We have a very big country and it is often the case that college is too far away to live at your parents’ house while you go to college. It’s also unlikely once you graduate that you’ll find a job in the town you grew up in or close enough to your parents house you can live there. If you live in or near a bigger city then it’s different. I am not sure this happens as much as it once did. Gen X was probably the last generation that this was really a thing. Also, I think it’s less parents kicking kids out at 18 and more the peer pressure to not live at home past a certain age. I left at 16 as did my little brother, older brother at 18 and my little sister made it to 19. Only one that got “kicked out” was my little brother. The rest of us were made aware that is was time to grow up and start taking care of ourselves. Which meant either work and hand over all money to parents or get out of their house. I chose the later. After reading a lot of comments saying this is rare or not normal I’m honestly shocked. Because they wanted a kid, but after it was born they realized 18 YEARS. After 18 years, they realized I can kick em to the curb so they can walk around the house nekkid.. I’m American, 21 years old, and I still live with my mom. I don’t have to pay rent as long as I’m in school. None of my friends have been kicked out either.

A child turning 18 greatly fucks with your financial assistances especially if they don’t go to college and/or have a job. If you have young children it becomes an issue of taking food out of your family’s mouth. Financial assistance is such a crap shoot. You barely get enough to survive and are punished for you or your child trying to work. I’m Columbian and its very common to never really separate from your family, you keep pooling your resources and expand your village or combine villages.
