If someone is venting about something i did, of course i would try to correct the thing. I mean I told my husband that I went on a nice walk on my lunch break today and it was sunny and the autumn colours were pretty. He too, told me about his day. This did not require any action from either of us, we weren’t asking to do anything. Hopefully your husband doesn’t think your good mood and enjoyment should be fixed, though. If all is well, no action is required. We don’t do anything special when the building isn’t on fire, other than continue not doing flammable things. Also, hearing positive things and doing nothing is a different thing than hearing bad things and doing nothing.

We try to memorize all the stressors of the people in our lives, and anticipate future conflict, so that we can prevent it. A failure to do so becomes an invitation for conflict, and conflict itself is the-thing-that-must-be-avoided-at-all-costs.
