My parents and my aunt had au pairs. Only one didn’t finish her contract. She went nuts. My dad put her on a plane back to France. I could easily, comfortably exist on 19k if I didn’t have to worry about rent, utilities, basic food, etc etc. All that and you don’t have to deal with the horrors of a normal workplace. Lots of exploitative careers out there, and lots of exploitative families that would hire one, but au pairs are not being mistreated by nature of being au pairs.

I’d challenge your original assertion that meditation is by definition blissful. Sure, sometimes, but any state is subject to impermanence.
