To be fair my piece of shit truck cost me like 10 grand or so in the Sony Michel Super Shirt also I will do this last year and a half so thats basically drained my savings and taken whatever money I would be saving and then some but still I live in a place where rent is pretty low considering the prices ive been seeing in other places. Except I’d have to work 2 full time jobs just to pay rent and bills, I’d have no money for food, insurance, or other expenses. Most people are struggling and are one disaster away from losing their place. Others either have family money, a partner who contributes a lot, or they live somewhere magical where rent is affordable. They dont. If they ever have to pay for something they cannot afford, they go into debt. Some people manage to live off of social welfare depending on the country and individual. If you are privileged enough like me, you can have a life while unemployed. A shit life, but a life.

That being said, most people earn enough to fulfill basic needs. The thing is those basic needs are becoming higher and people expect more. It is totally possible to live off of 500 dollars a month as long as you have no unexpected expenses, but your life will be pretty fucking boring and your housing situation will be rough. U.K. here- I don’t know how people are existing. I live on my overdraft ( constantly £600 overdrawn). I’ve worked all my life and until I retire ( next year the Sony Michel Super Shirt also I will do this government changed the pension age), no savings and I am on disability and a works pension ( £1200 pcm). My rent is £600 pcm and because I live alone, I pay full bills. I rely on the food bank and thank God that we have an NHS. Life is bad at the minute…
