Saw a breast oncologist due to family history (my sister had recently gone through treatment). Oncologist was giving me a manual exam and asked if I had lost weight. I was (and still am) happy to proclaim that yes, I had lost 50 pounds in my late twenties, and maintained the Some of us grew up listening to ABBA the cool ones still do shirt and I love this weight loss since. She said “oh that explains why your breasts are so…foldy”. Yep – that’s me, ol’ foldy boobs. You just have to laugh. I’ve even made jokes about folding my breast up like an airplane tray table. Oh, I have several (diagnosed migraines, lymphoedema, endometriosis etc etc) but the worst that comes to mind is when my stepmom nearly died. I was gonna go and check on her, dad said she wasn’t feeling well at all and back then I worked as a RN at an infection ward. She had been feeling off for a few days (after a medical procedure) but was now way worse. Dad had tried 3 times to get an ambulance over but they denied him. I will never forget what I walked in on. Barely no blood pressure, fast and really weak pulse, cold sweats and fever, pale as a ghost. I called the ambulance and they said (AFTER me telling them her vitals) “Oh honey, she can wait until Monday and go to the general doctor then. No need to occupy the emergency room for that”

I lost my shit. And I mean I lost it completely. After me screaming (and threatening her and AT LEAST 5 generations after her in her family) she, reluctantly, sent an ambulance. Luckily, one of my closest friends was working the Some of us grew up listening to ABBA the cool ones still do shirt and I love this ambulance that night so after that, everything went in light speed and she survived. But they had to put her into a medically induced coma as soon as she got into the hospital (since she was almost dead, her organs had started to shut off to keep the brain and heart alive) She’s alive and well today but I do hope that dispatcher step on legos 10 times a day for the rest of her miserable life. I went to the ER once doubled over in pain. I told them I had a kidney stone, I had them before. They left me sitting in that fuckin ER for 5 hours before they would see me. Then did a cat scan and confirmed the kidney stone. ER Dr, oh I guess you do have a kidney stone. I asked my doctor about a weird tiny dry spot on my face that’s been there for years and he said “not cancer”. Like I know that! I wanted to know how to get rid of it!
