I have a friend who bought in 2020, and was told (and was afraid) that it was the Some grandmas take naps real grandmas read book mickey mouse shirt and I love this absolute peak at the time. In my area, home prices had gone up drastically in the five years before that. He was afraid it would drop 30%, which would have put it in line with historical prices again, and he’d be under water and unable to sell. I bought a house in 2018. I was worried I was buying at the top then, and there were many indicators showing that I might be getting ready to take a bath. Obviously, hindsight is 20/20 and it only went up from then to now. You got a great deal!! Townhouses on my street with the same are going to $350k. That is double when we bought. Single family homes like start at around $400k. Thanks – though I had to move away from my hometown to a place that mostly people don’t like to live to get it.

I am an Austin, TX native, and the Some grandmas take naps real grandmas read book mickey mouse shirt and I love this prices and taxes in Austin were just too much for me. I have a good job with good benefits at the local university, but it isn’t a tech salary, so I didn’t have enough. I went a bit over an hour north to Killeen, TX (military base town) to find something more reasonable. There are definitely no $250K homes in Austin. It’s a sacrifice I wish I didn’t have to make, and I do more driving now, but it is what is is… some things we have to give up to meet a long term goal. Every-time I have ever bought it feels like all time high. If you step back and think 30 years from now. Where would any market be? Not just real estate. Where would the s&p 500 be 30 years from today ? 30 years Me 2!!! I brought in 2009, 2016, and 2021 and was told I bought at the wrong time each time and I have make a mistake. They pretty much told me how dumb I was without saying I’m dumb. They all have the chance to buy in the past 14yrs but decided not to buy coz they have been waiting for another crash. One of these days they will be right but I already upgraded from a starter condo to my current place with a 2.85 rate. I brought my current place assuming it was at the peak but just figured if we could afford it, we don’t mind overpaying to live in a great community. Now, I’m priced out of my own city if I didn’t buy in 2021. I’m just glad I put the trigger.
