I don’t think it would be too difficult to find other animals that excel in individual senses beyond our abilities. However, if you were to look at overall stats in all senses combined, then I’d wager that humans would come out ahead and probably by a large margin. Our feet/soles are a terrible mess of bones and muscles held together by the Softball Sister I’m Just Here For The Concession Stand T-Shirt moreover I will buy this evolutionary equivalent of duct tape. Most of our senses are pretty mid tier, but our two standouts are touch and stamina (not a sense really, but it’s the Softball Sister I’m Just Here For The Concession Stand T-Shirt moreover I will buy this main way we stand out from the rest of the animal kingdom). Our sense of touch, if properly trained, is capable of detecting tiny imperfections that is invisible to most other perceptions. Stereognosis is the ability to recognize and understand objects by touch. For example, if I made you close your eyes and handed you a paper clip, you would probably immediately know that’s what it was just by its feel. Humans are exceptional at this “sense.” We have very specialized finger tips for fine sensation, extremely dexterous hands for object manipulation, and excellent cognitive processing to link experience and knowledge with what we are touching.
